The Westhill Team, Swimmers and Coaches, at the Meet.
The Results are available on the North District webite .
Thirty teams took part at the meet this year, including two from the Midland District. It proved to be a very exiciting competition with many races a close finish. 11 Meet Records were broken over the course of the weekend as follows:-
Westhill's James Yules broke Westhill's Michael Caldwell's 2007 record for the Boys 14-15 yrs 200M Freestyle by 2 seconds in 1:57.46. He also broke Sam George's 2008 record for the Boys 14-15 yrs 200M Breastroke in 5 tenths of a second in 2:27.23.
Ross Clark (Dundee City Aquatics) broke his own 2008 record for the Boys 16 & Over 100M Breastroke, setting a new benchmark at 1:04.12, and the same again for the 200M Breastroke in 2:22.60.
Orla Adams (Garioch) broke Kerry Buchan's 2003 record for the Girls 14 - 15 yrs 100M Breastroke by 3 tenths of a second taking it down to 1:14.23, and the same again by nearly a second to Kerry's 200M Breastroke 2003 record in 2:37.67.

Peter Stewart (Dundee City Aquatics) broke the longstanding Boys 16 & Over 100M Freestyle record set by Alasdair Pullan in 1997 by nearly 4 tenths of a second to set a new record of 51.56. He then went on to break the 2007 record for the Boys Open 100M Individual Medley set in 2007 by Chris Wilson by 4 hundredths of a second in 1:00.05.
Especially exciting were the relays, including the new medley event called the Russian Roulette Medley.
The rules were that each team comprised 1 boy and 1 girl aged 13 and Under, plus 1 boy and 1 girl aged 14+, and at the beginning of each race, each swimmer picked a stroke for that race from a non-transparent bag controlled by the judge on each lane, with no swapping allowed. The slowest 2 teams in the heat were eliminated, and the remaining teams re-selected their strokes for the next heat, and so on till the third and last heat with the fastest 2 teams. This time Garioch had the upper hand over Thurso.
