Westhill District Amateur Swimming Club

Westhill District Planning Meeting - 2008 and Beyond

A planning meeting was held on Wednesday 27th February from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Holiday Inn, Aberdeen West.

There was a fantastic turnout of over 100 parents and swimmers who spent over an hour looking forward to the future of swimming in Westhill.

The meeting heard from Jim Cameron, Head Coach, who outlined where the club is now, how it got there and set the scene for looking ahead.

Katherine Ross, former Head Coach of the club, facilitated a session for those attending. Participants plotted on a graph the direction they wished to take the swimmers in the future. Having gained overall agreement that the membership wished to progress rather than standstill or go backwards, groups were formed to discuss what progressing swimming in Westhill means for parents and swimmers. The group discussions were wide ranging and covered a variety of topics and issues. The summary of the feedback received is detailed below.

The committee have agreed to look at the options available to take forward the members’ vision for the swimmers. The options need to deliver this vision. It is intended to have further information available by the Annual General Meeting in May.
